SAFEWAY TEAMS FBR OPEN WITH SAFEWAY INTERNATIONAL
Ticket Promotion Exclusive to Safeway Stores

January 13, 2005 – Phoenix, AZ

Keeping with the tradition of offering convenience and variety, Safeway once again presents an exclusive, one-stop shopping opportunity for golf aficionados. Now through Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, when customers purchase a $20 general admission, single-day ticket to the 2005 Safeway International LPGA, they will receive a free general admission, single-day pass to the PGA’s famous FBR Open.

This special offer is available only at Arizona Safeway locations. Customers interested in purchasing the $20 Safeway International single-day tickets, with the free FBR Open single-day pass attached, must visit the store’s customer service department.

Safeway will serve as the official ticket outlet for the 2005 Safeway International, with tournament play scheduled for Monday, Mar. 14 through Sunday, Mar. 20. Beginning Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, customers will be provided a complimentary Safeway International general admission, single-day pass for every $20 Safeway International single-day ticket purchased at any Arizona store location.

The 2005 Safeway International will return to the Prospector Course at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club. This year’s field features Annika Sorenstam, returning to defend her 2004 title, as well as amateur sensation Michelle Wie. LPGA tour professionals will compete for a record $1.4 million purse.

Tournament proceeds will be directed to the Safeway Foundation, which has already identified Banner Health Foundation, part of the state’s largest nonprofit health care system, as its primary beneficiary. Additional tournament proceeds will be invested in Arizona-based charitable organizations focused on fighting hunger, health and human services, and education.
