Amateurs Invited to Play in Safeway International Amateur Open
Tournament Golf Foundation (TGF), the nonprofit organization that organizes the Safeway International, today announced that the Safeway International Amateur Open will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2008. The 18-hole qualifier will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club on the Prospector Course.

Taylor Karle to play in Safeway International
Taylor Karle, a Scottsdale, AZ amateur, will get an opportunity to play next week in the Safeway International Presented by Coca-Cola.  Karle who finished second in the recent Safeway International Amateur Open was given the spot that was being held for Michele Wie.  Wie will not play next week in Arizona due to a wrist injury which has kept her out of action since January.

Choe and Park Win Spots in Safeway International Field
Angela Park of Torrance, California and Esther Choe of Scottsdale, Arizona, won automatic berths in next month’s Safeway International LPGA tournament. Park and Choe were the two low players in a field of 21 at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club, the site of the LPGA event. Park fired a 4-under 68 while Choe was at 3-under 69.

Pressel Accepts Spot in Safeway International, Wie’s Schedule for 2006 Not Finalized.
Tournament Golf Foundation Inc., (TGFI), the owners and organizers of the Safeway International LPGA tournament, announced that US Amateur Champion Morgan Pressel has accepted a sponsor’s exemption to compete in the 2006 event.  At the same time, tournament officials also announced that they have extended their other exemption to Michelle Wie, 16, who recently turned professional.  Wie’s schedule for 2006 has not been finalized.
