WALKING SCORERS INSTRUCTIONS
PLAYER STATISTICAL INFORMATION
Prior to going out with your assigned group, you will receive two pre-printed statistical worksheets (one for each nine). The specific players along with their computer ID# and their group # will be included along with the various holes and par. As you work down the sheet, each hole strip is perforated so that it becomes a tear strip to give to the greenside hole reporter after you have recorded the appropriate score and stats information. The carbonized copy of the nine-hole worksheet will remain with you until the end of the round.
At the bottom of the worksheet, you will also have the following pre-printed information: tournament and course names, tee time and starting hole, round # and group #. After round one, the player’s status to par will also be reflected. Please not the 9-hole scoring summary strip that you will record as players progress through their round. You may be asked to leave this 9-hole summary strip at the scoring tent after nine holes.
INSTRUCTIONS & DEFINITIONS
The following instructions will help you in completing the worksheet. Please remember that you should ask the player’s caddie, in case you have a question about one of the statistics, just as you would about any question regarding strokes.
1. Fairway Hit? Please circle yes (Y) if a player’s tee shot comes to rest in the fairway of the hole she is playing (par 3 holes are not included in this category). The fairway is the shortest cut of the grass.
2. Greenside Bunker Hit? If a stroke comes to rest in a “greenside” bunker, circle yes (Y). A bunker is considered “greenside” if it borders the green or is within 20 yards of the green.
3. Sand Save? If the player gets up-and-down in two strokes or less from the greenside bunker, circle yes (Y). The score made on the hole is irrelevant for the purpose of this statistic (i.e., she could get up-and-down for a three or an eight, so long as two strokes are played from the bunker into the hole).
4. Green in Regulation? Please circle yes (Y) if a player reaches a green in “regulation” strokes. For the purpose of this category, “regulation” strokes are one (1) on a par 3, two (2) or less on a par 4, and three (3) or less on a par 5. The ball must be on the putting surface in order for you to circle yes (Y).
5. Strokes to Green? Make a mark for each stroke the player makes until the ball lies on the putting green. Any additional penalty strokes on that hole may also be recorded in this area.
6. Putts? Make a mark for each stroke the player makes on the putting green for that hole. The player’s ball must be on the putting surface in order for the stroke to be counted as a putt.
7. Score / + or -? Add strokes to green plus number of putts to obtain the total hole score. In each score box, put the player’s total score for the hole above the dividing line and her cumulative standing to par below the dividing line. Minus (-) figures will denote under par and plus (+) figures will denote over par. The standing to par will help you keep the standard bearer’s information correct. Also, please record this data in the 9-hole summary area at the bottom of the worksheet.
8. Drive Distance? On two designated holes (noted by ## symbol on stats sheet), a marshal will notify you of the driving distance for each player in the group. This is a distance statistic only, not accuracy, therefore, the ball does not have to be in the fairway to be recorded.
Your assistance in gathering this data is most appreciated by the LPGA and its players. THANK YOU!!!
