Impressive Field Will Highlight Safeway Open An impressive field of professional and amateur players is entered in the Safeway Open, to be held on Tuesday, July 5, at Langdon Farms Golf Club in Aurora, OR. The winner of the 18-hole event will earn a guaranteed spot in the Safeway Classic LPGA tournament to be held in Portland, OR August 15-21. The two low amateurs earn spots in the Aug. 15 Monday qualifier at which two more spots will be decided. Entrants to date include California’s Jane Park, the 2004 U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion, In-Bee Park from Las Vegas, NV and the #3 ranked junior in the U.S. Professionals include Portland native Allison Hanna, an LPGA player on the Futures Tour with a conditional LPGA card, Megan Heckeroth, a former Tillamook High and University of Oregon player and Michelle Murphy, a former LPGA tour player, eight-time US Open entrant, and currently women’s golf coach at the University of Portland. Additionally, both the Oregon and Washington state high school champions are entered. Rebecca Kim of McNary and Christine Cho of Kentridge will be on hand. College players entered include Paige MacKenzie from the University of Washington, who tied for 13th Players are coming from Hawaii, Florida, California and Nevada, as well as from Oregon and Washington.
