Safeway Classic Tickets Available
Promotion Offers Two Free Tickets with $15 Purchase at Local Safeway Stores

Tournament Golf Foundation Inc. (TGFI), the organizers of the Safeway Classic LPGA Tournament, announced a special ticket promotion for fans would be available from
July 1-August 21. With every $15 purchase at a local Safeway Store in Oregon and
SW Washington, customers will get a coupon good for two entries into the event (a $20 value.) This coupon can be exchanged at the admissions gate any day for entry. The tournament will be held August 15-21 in Portland at Columbia-Edgewater Country Club.

$10 and weekly passes are $50. All children 17 and under are free.

This years Safeway Classic will feature a top level field for fans to enjoy. Annika Sorenstam, rookie sensation Paula Creamer, defending champion Hee-Won Han and
new US Open champion Birdie Kim are all scheduled to play. Last years event featured 49 of the top 50 money winners, and this year should be no exception. The event is considered one of the premiere stops on the LPGA tour and is the second oldest event
on the circuit.

“We are excited about our new August dates and the ticket offer from Safeway,” said Tom Maletis, President of TGFI. “Our goal is to have as many fans as possible enjoy the great players on the LPGA tour. Now with an easy way for fans to get tickets and with our event during summer vacation, we look forward to seeing even more fans out then ever.”

In addition to great LPGA golf, fans who attend the tournament Friday – Sunday can visit A Taste of Safeway Food Pavilion on the way in the gates. The Pavilion will feature a variety of booths offering free samples from a variety of products featured in Safeway stores. For those fans 21 and older there is the Safeway 19th Hole, a free wine and beer sampling pavilion directly behind the driving range. This area will feature over 50 different beers and wines to sample.

The Safeway Classic will feature a $1.4 million purse this year. Tournament Golf Foundation is a Portland group of 47 individuals and couples who donate their time and provide the primary operations of the annual event. Begun in 1972, TGFI has donated over $9 million to local children’s charities, over $3 million in the last four years.
