Han defeats Kane in Playoff to
win 2004 tournament

Hee-Won Han sank a five-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to dethrone Annika Sorenstam and win the $1.2 million event in 2004.

Han began the day three shots behind co-leaders Lorie Kane and Candie Kung and caught Kane with a five-under-par 67 for a three-round total of 9-under 207.

While Han was making her move, Kung fell off the pace with par-72 and Sorenstam, the two-time defending champion, managed just a 70 as they both missed the playoff.

For Han, one of many Korean’s making their mark on the LPGA Tour, the victory was her first in 2004. In 2003 she won two LPGA tour titles.

Grace Park shot a 68 to finish alone in third at 208, one stroke better than Sorenstam, Kung, and Kristal Parker-Manzo, whose 65 was the best round of the day.
